Sisters Shmelev
Valentina Shmelyova (born 7 August 1930), Evgenya Shmelyova (born 15 July 1932) and Olga Shmelyova (born? 1934 (?)), known as «Shmelyov Sisters», were a Soviet vocal trio, popular in the 50s and the early 60s. The sisters were born to a family of musicians and enjoyed singing from a very early age. They began performing professionally in the early 50s with the repertoire of romances and lyrical pop songs. Pretty girls who could sing and dance were soon noticed by the film industry and got singing roles in the movies «Полюшко-поле» (1956) by V. Stroyeva and «Carnival Night» (1956) by E. Ryazanov. After the smashing success of the New Year musical comedy «Carnival Night» the sisters became very famous, they took part in multiple TV concerts and would go on lengthy tours all across the USSR. In the late 60s the sisters largely retired from music, focusing on family matters.
